  • Events: LRG Caribana Takeover – Reign Nightclub Review

Caribana weekend is finally here and there are a ton of parties to hit up to have fun. Last night, The Young, Fresh & New team tried hit up the LRG Caribana Takeover party at Reign Nightclub (137 Peter St. – Toronto) and ended up going to Soul Kitchen – Soul Kitchen Caribana Fusion II at Blurr (214 Adelaide St – Toronto).

LRG Caribana Takeover was hosted by Kardinal Offishall, and had a line up of promising djs including  P-Plus, Fyah Kid Steenie, Agile and 4Korners. The team managed to get advance ticket, and the word “ADVANCE” didn’t mean shit last night. The line for non-advance ticket holders was moving faster than those in the advance tickets line. Waiting in the “Advance Ticket” line for over an hour, showed how unprofessional the team of the LRG Caribana Takeover patrty was. The promoters, bouncers, and security lacked common sense on how to treat supporters at the event. It’s after 1 AM, and there are a bunch of people still waiting to get inside the venue that isn’t full. Why? If the club isn’t full, why are people outside waiting? A few things really made the night. One, the friends of the promoter had exclusive access to the venue. Two, the bouncer accepting money from people to by pass the line. Three, the non-advance ticket holders line was moving faster than the advance tickets line. Four, heard one of the bouncers saying “we are going to stop letting people in.” Are f’ing you kidding me? I have been patiently waiting in line and you are going to stop letting people in when it’s not full inside the venue.

WIth all foolishness that was going on at Reign Nighclub, the Young, Fresh & New team ended the night by going to Soul Kitchen – Caribana Fusion II at at Blurr. There was no line, no hassle and a lot raw energy. Thanks to Jester, Kid Kut, Max and  Boogeyme’n, people were constantly dancing which created some serious heat (literally) and have people flyer fanning for air. The sets were crazy from classic R&B to old school hip hop to soca and some serious conscious reggae. Special thanks to Ian Andre Espinet and all the affliates with the event. Ian has been throwing parties for years, and he knows how to  treat the supporters. He always shows professionalism and ensure that everyone is taken care of.

Be sure to check ICON on Sunday August 3rd at Level. (102 Pteer St.) Advanced Tickets are $25 and Style code in effect. Music will be provided by: Jester, JR-Flo, Soca Sweetness, Lindo P, P-Plus and Lissa Monet. Make sure you come out, The YFN team will be there in effect.

**This goes out to the promoters, security, bouncer and anyone affiliated with the decision of letting people inside the club at LRG Caribana Takeover. The supporters of the events were NOT taken care of and were highly disrespected leading to the lack of professionalism. Don’t sell advance tickets if the supporters are waiting in line for over an hour to get into a club. Please get your mind right and STOP thinking about yourself. This party is NOT about YOU! Treat your supporters with f’ing dignity and respect. **’

If you buy advanced tickets to any events, should you be waiting in line for more than 10 minutes (MAX)?
