Events: Kardinal Offishall ‘Not 4 Sale’ Listening Party at Cartel (Downtown Toronto)
Last Night, the Young, Fresh & New team got a chance to attend the Kardinal Offishall’s Not 4 Sale Listening Party at Cartel (498 Queen St. W – Toronto). Hosted by the man himself Kardinal Offishall gave taste makers from all over Toronto a first hand peek of the album Not 4 Sale. Cartel was the hottest spot to be last night as the music was blaring onto the street as people were wondering what was going on. With over 100 people there in attendance, no one was going to miss any opportunity to preview this highly anticipated album. Kardinal told everyone about his thoughts and background surrounding the album. After listening to the album, there is a mix variety of hip hop, dancehall, reggae, and r&b. With reggae/dancehall influenced tracks like “Numba 1 (Tide is High),” “Bad Like We Bad,” and “Nina” guaranteed to get everyone moving. “Gimme Some,”, “Digital Motown,” and “Go Home With You” each are to described a different vibe from Kardinal Offishall. “Digital Motown” has a electric vibe featuring J*Davey while “Gimme Some” has a lovers tale with The Dream’s magic. Not 4 Sale features a variety of artists and producers including Rihanna, JR Rotem, Boi 1da, J*Davey, T-Pain, Akon, Supa Dups, Nottz, and Estelle.
My personal favourites are “Gimme Some,” “Going In,” “Nina,” “Bad Like We Bad,” “Numba 1 (Tide is High),” “Digital Motown,” and “Go Home With You”. Every song on the album is guaranteed pure HOTNESS!! I am not saying this because Kardinal Offishall is from Toronto, but he has really come a long way to get to this point and everyone here is so proud of this accomplishment. It is also confirmed that “Numba 1 (Tide Is High)” will be the next single. I wonder what this video is going to look like. I bet it will have a caribbean on the beach type of vibe to it.
