According to Billboard.com, Fake Drake Albums have been sold over iTunes. (Say What Now?) People are trying to capitalize on Drake since he is the #1 unsigned artist of 2009. It’s been a minute since an artist of his caliber has been making MAJOR waves and a major record label isn’t the one supporting him right now. Actually, it sounds like some NBA draft pick. Drake said it best “Rookie of year, ’06 Chris Paul shit”. Everyone is patiently waiting to see which major label he will call home.  Read below.

An unauthorized album, “The Girls Love Drake,” which features selections from the Toronto rapper’s mixtape “So Far Gone” and other tracks, was released May 28th by a label called Canadian Money Entertainment and distributed by the Independent Online Distribution Alliance (IODA) on iTunes, Rhapsody and Amazon.

Drake’s camp, which is still trying to clear the samples on “So Far Gone” and his two other mixtapes in hopes of selling them in stores, says it didn’t authorize the release.

If it hadn’t been disqualified on the grounds that it wasn’t confirmed as being an official album, “The Girls Love Drake” would have debuted this week at No. 101 on the Billboard 200, NO. 16 on the Digital Albums chart and No. 1 on the Heatseekers tally. “Best I Ever Had” and “Every Girl” (credited to Young Money), two tracks on the mixtape that have previously charted, appear on this week’s Hot Digital Songs chart thanks to downloads of “The Girls Love Drake.” Additionally, “Best I Ever Had” jumps 60-18 on the Billboard 200, while “Every Girl” leaps 75-35, although chart experts predict they will both drop again once the unofficial album is no longer available.

After finding the album on iTunes, Drake’s management sent a cease-and-desist notice to the retailer, which has since removed it. At press time, the album was still available on Rhapsody and Amazon, although Drake’s manager Al Branch says he’s having it removed from these retailers as well.

(see below) Well it does look like a black eye but it can also pass as a little scar. Hmm who knows. What I can’t make out is that when Drake was in Toronto last week, he performed  “Every Girl” and he plugged Rihanna after the track. He shouted “Shout Out to Rihanna, I Love you baby”. How did I not pick up on that before? That’s a clear indication that something is going on. Like the interview said, he wants every girl in the world and he started with Rihanna. Bam! Rihanna & Drake? Are you serious?

Toronto native Drake (Aubrey Graham) has been gaining a lot of buzz over the Internet (mixtapes, YouTube, etc etc) while Chris Brown seems to be last week’s new (after losing all his endorsements and many fan support). Could this polar opposite be what’s attracting RiRi to Drake?

Bawse Man Rick Ross is featured on the latest cover of XXL magazine for the month of May. As you may notice Rick Ross is wearing a pair of Louis Vuitton sunglasses. A representative of Louis Vuitton sent a letter to the editor of the magazine stating that Rick Ross is wearing a counterfeit and was not granted permission to use the trademarks.

We were dismayed to see the cover of the May 2009 issue of XXL Magazine, which features a photo of Rick Ross wearing a pair of sunglasses prominently featuring counterfeit Louis Vuitton trademarks. Because the photo has generated considerable confusion among your readers and Louis Vuitton customers among others, we feel it is important to clarify several points.

The first is that the sunglasses Mr. Ross is wearing were not made by Louis Vuitton, and in fact, are counterfeit. Louis Vuitton did not grant permission to Mr. Ross or to whoever did make the sunglasses to use our trademarks. The second is that no affiliation, sponsorship or association exists between Rick Ross or XXL and Louis Vuitton. The third is that counterfeiting is illegal.

According to MTV.com Kelis filed for divorce from Nas after 3 and half years of marriage on April 20, 2009.

“I can confirm that she has filed for divorce,” a spokesperson for Kelis reportedly told the site on Thursday (April 30). “We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time.”

The couple first started dating back in 2002 and got married three years later. Kelis is also seven months pregnant with their first child and is set to give birth on July 21, 2009. Now my question is where did THEY go wrong? The thing about being a celebrity we feel that we know them because they are in the limelight. People get divorce all the time, and they say 50 percent of marriages do end up in divorce.  Could that explain why we have seen Kelis making solo appearances lately? Who is the woman (women) Nas’ has been cheating with? It’s unfortunate that Kelis is pregnant with his child. But on a brighter note: NAS is back on the market!!! Yeahhhhh!!!! Beyonce’s first single “If I Were a Boy” has apparently been stolen from a San Diego singer/songwriter BC Jean. The upcoming singer/songwriter has her version of the track on her MySpace page where she has received over 200,000 hits.

Well, guess what? The story behind “If I Were a Boy” is absolutely scandalous. It also explains my question of why this single missed the Grammy deadline of Sept. 30, since it was ready to go at least three weeks ago. The answer: it was held up by endless legal wrangling since, in the long hallowed tradition of the music business, the young woman who wrote the melody and lyrics for “If I Were a Boy” had no idea Beyonce had even recorded her song until a stranger called with the news. By then, it was too late.

BC Jean is a hot, up-and-coming, 21-year-old female singer songwriter from San Diego. Those who’ve met her says she’s smart and “gorgeous.” But BC (her initials, legend has it, are for “beautiful child”) got a cold dose of reality this summer when it comes to the record business. According to sources, she and her manager/mother have been strong-armed by Beyonce’s people and others who saw gold in “If I Were a Boy” and didn’t care how they got it.

Right now, it is un uncertain if Beyonce got legal permission to use or record this song but it seems like she didn’t care. Do I smell a lawsuit coming in the future? I sure do. It’s quite interesting when some artists claim they write their own stuff and they don’t. Peep back on the blog for an update regarding this story.
