I’ve been a huge fan of Red Cafe for a HOT minute. I’m a little disappointed that he signed with Bad Boys Records. We all know that Bad Boys Records can make and break career. It’s a cycle – Yung Joc, Dream, Da Band, Dainty Kane, G-Dep, Black Rob, Loon, Mase and so on.  I HOPE that this will not be the same case for Red Cafe.

My homie Neenyo sent me a track that he helped produced for Red Cafe “General” featuring Maino which appears on the Hottest In The Hood.com Volume One Mixtape. Both Red Cafe & Maino has been tearing up the NYC scene for a minute. It’s nice to see that they are finally get the respect that they deserve. Check out another track of the moment below. Enjoy!

A few weeks ago,  I received an invitation from Twones.com via Twitter to check out their website. Twones is a music service that is providing a new way to store, organize, find and share music played over the web (i.e. YouTube, Myspace, Last.fm, Hypemachine, Favtape, Blogs and many more) or on your computer (i.e. iTunes) to one single point of access. Twones.com works similar to Twitter  showing all your followers what you have listened to or watched. Th e way for Twones to track what you are listening to,  a plugin for Internet Browser called Twones Tracker has to be installed.

I have been using the website for a few weeks now and it is a great way to track what you have been listening to. I would love to see Twones create a widget that I can put on the blog to show you guys what music I have been bumping and videos I have been watching.

One of the reps over at Twones.com created an exclusive invitation code for the Young, Fresh & New readers to preview the private beta website. I wish I knew about this program when I was younger, because I would of definitely submitted an application for the Arts of Business. PhotoWill, HustleGRL, Addy, and Future Da Prince are some of the few who have participated in these programs. They are the NEW leaders in this urban arts industry and have been working hard in their respected fields. Here’s a little about the REMIX project

Mission Statement:

Remix is a group dedicated to training young people in the arts and cultural industries in order for them to take their passions and turn them into viable economic revenue streams and careers. We are dedicated to creating social change by working both inside and outside of the mainstream systems. The Remix Project is a youth-led, urban arts organization focused on the individual while building a strong and healthy community and industry. Working with “at-risk youth” in the city of Toronto, the program encompasses three different streams including recording arts, creative arts, and the art of business. We provide resources for young people to identify articulate and work towards their own personal, artistic, educational, and career goals.

Description:

Remix is open from 3-9pm Monday to Friday. We have a facility that includes a recording studio, two production rooms, a video editing suite, a graphic design suite, photography studio, a business centre, boardroom, 7 offices, two bathrooms and a kitchen. Youth work with their program leaders and use the facility and resources to work on their six-month plans and accomplish their day-to-day goals such as recording, working on business plans, photography, graphic design, etc. Remix holds monthly mandatory workshops, update meetings, field-trips, training sessions, and more. We also have a mentorship program, where participants are linked with industry professionals to help assist them with career goals, give them advice, share resources and networks and help develop their exit strategies for when they graduate the Remix program.

Wale “Chillin’”  featuring Lady Gaga has been on repeat for a few weeks on my iPhone and Zune Player. Who knew that Wale & Lady Gaga could work. “Chillin’” is the first single from Wale’s debut album Attention:Deficit. The HOT production is produced by the Miami duo Cool and Dre. It has been a minute since we have last heard from Cool and Dre. Radio stations and mixtapes have been picking up the track and hopefully we will hear more of Wale in the upcoming weeks.

Last week, Wale stopped by Toronto for his ADD tour along with Toronto’s own Colin Munroe. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to check out the show but I heard some great feedback. Wale is still on tour, so be sure to check him out in your city.
